Blackstone’s Publications
The Society has a number of publications including an academic journal, a social justice journal, and handbooks for UWA law students covering both education and mental health.
The Blackstone Careers Handbook is an annual publication that contains articles written by professionals at the top of their fields, sample resumes, cover letters, FAQs and tips for students. The purpose of the Handbook is to give an idea of different career pathways that are open to students once they finish their law degree.
The Ignite Journal ("Ignite"), is the Blackstone Society's social justice publication. 2015 was the first year for this publication, with an emphasis on mental health.
The Onyx Journal is the Blackstone Society's academic journal. Published annually, it showcases exceptional academic writing by UWA law students. The Journal's editorial team is comprised exclusively of UWA law students.
The Alternative Faculty Handbook ("AFH") is a publication for UWA law students. It was created to help with the difficult task of selecting units for the coming year, and preparing for the next round of core units. We took student experiences and pulled them together to give an insight into the subjects you are about to study, if you are studying at the UWA law school.
The publication focuses on promoting the physical, mental, and study/career wellbeing of law students by providing a mix of practical advice and in-depth articles on a range of topics - everything from how to negotiate your first salary, to ways to support friends dealing with mental illness, to the joys of jogging.
