Blackstone runs events at every level from casual barbecues all the way to grand balls and cocktail functions.
Not all of our (smaller) events are listed on our Website, but are advertised throughout the Law School Buildings and through the UWA Law Student Newsletter, What's Up In The Court Yard.
An annual small, formal event where students have the opportunity to share a few drinks with each other and network with those in the legal industry.
Courtyard Show- Courtyard Show is considered a legacy amongst law students and alumni. Having been run since before our lecturers can remember, and hosted in the Law Courtyard, it is one of the Blackstone Society’s most well-known events at UWA and always promises to be a great party.
In partnership with WAMSS, Blackstone presents a party of dichotomies: literature vs science, punch vs beer… suits vs scrubs. The mixer between Law and Med returns in 2016 and is guaranteed to see people suited up and scrubbed in!
The annual Ashurst Law Ball is the premier event on the Law School social calendar. Occurring in semester 2 of each year the ball is something to look forward to! Six hundred students can look forward to a delicious three course meal, drinks package and amazing music and production.
Final year dinner is hosted in mid-October to celebrate graduating student’s time at the UWA Law School. With an MC chosen from amongst the graduates, and hosted annually at a premier Perth restaurant, it is Blackstone’s way of facilitating a farewell celebration for students after the long road of UWA law school.
Watch three of UWA law school’s finest minds go up against three members of the legal profession in a battle of brain, brawn, and most importantly banter! Each year, a topic is chosen, and the teams battle it out to be crowned winner.
Coming back to university after summer break is tough, that’s why we are throwing a friendly volleyball competition and barbecue to start off the semester!
An event specially organised for those just starting out as Law students at UWA, First Year Dinner provides not only an opportunity for the first year cohort to get to know each other, it is also the event at which the first year elected Blackstone positions are announced.
